ASX rises 0.3pc, nearing record after hitting 14-month high

The Australian sharemarket moved closer to reclaiming a fresh record high on Thursday, with a strong performance from the mining sector pushing local shares to their highest level in 14 months.
The S&P/ASX 200 Index advanced 17.6 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 7082.3, just 80 points shy of the record high it hit in February 2020.
