Three years after a wave of teal independents swept into federal parliament, fundraising vehicle Climate 200 is preparing to support as many as 30 candidates at the looming election, capitalising on disenchantment with the major parties.
Targeting Coalition seats, and at least one Labor MP, organisers say the group’s two-cycle strategy will further increase the size of the crossbench. Incumbent MPs including Dan Tehan, Ted O’Brien and Andrew Wallace are all facing challenges from community independents, backed by early-stage funding from Climate 200.
