Labor targets supermarket ‘shrinkflation’

A hidden form of inflation for supermarket shoppers will come under renewed scrutiny, as the federal government looks to strengthen unit pricing rules for everyday products.
So-called “shrinkflation” – where manufacturers reduce the size of their products but maintain or even increase their price – will be targeted through changes to consumer rules and the introduction of new fines.
