Technology is fuelling all of Australia’s major national security risks and weakening democratic fundamentals such as free and fair elections and open political debate, Clare O’Neil says.

In a major speech about threats to elections and the integrity of the political system, the Home Affairs Minister will on Tuesday strongly criticise social media platforms, accusing them of using opaque algorithms to “germinate and grow” bigotry online.
