Liberals to fall short of majority in Tasmania poll

Tom McIlroy

Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s Liberals will have the largest share of seats from Saturday’s state election, but will fall well short of a majority needed to govern in their own right.

The Liberals are on track to win up to 15 seats, despite suffering a statewide swing of more than 11 per cent. Labor, led by Opposition Leader Rebecca White, will likely take 10 seats, suggesting days or weeks of negotiations with minor parties and independents before a government is formed.
