Record expectations for Tracey Moffatt photo series
A major work by acclaimed Australian Indigenous artist Tracey Moffatt that was shown at the Venice Biennale is the star lot in Menzies’ annual prints and multiples sale next week. The suite of 10 images, Body Remembers, 2017, has been consigned from the prestigious Balnaves Collection and has been given an estimate of $350,000 to $450,000. The suite could set a new record for Moffatt, whose current top price at auction is $270,000 (including buyer’s fees), realised for the full suite of her best-known series, Something More, 1989, which sold at Deutscher and Hackett early last year.
