Western Sydney Airport’s new management team has warned that COVID-19 lockdowns have affected the $5.3 billion project’s “budget and schedule” but says flights are still scheduled to take off by late-2026.
Construction work at the site near Badgerys Creek temporarily stopped between July 19 - August 11 because of government health orders during Sydney’s lockdowns, says the airport’s annual report for financial year 2021.
