London | Queen Elizabeth II has died aged 96, ending the longest monarchical reign in British history and removing the political bedrock that has buttressed Britain’s postwar era.
Her son Charles became king immediately, but will be formally confirmed at a ceremony in London on Saturday, before embarking on a tour of the United Kingdom’s four nations to take part in mourning services in each capital.
