Portrait of previous winner takes out 100th Archibald Prize

The 100th Archibald Prize has been won by Peter Wegner’s painting of fellow artist Guy Warren, who was born in the same year the portraiture competition was first held and won it himself in 1985.
Despite these synergies, Melbourne-based Wegner did not originally approach Warren, who is said to be Australia’s oldest working artist, to sit for him with the $100,000 prize in mind.
