Longer lockdown looms as careless Victorians drive record cases

Melbourne's six-week lockdown could be extended after a record-breaking 484 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, with Premier Daniel Andrews scolding sick casual workers for failing to get tested and continuing to shop and work while they waited for the results of their tests.

There are 3078 active cases in the state, with more than 2000 cases under investigation because the source of infection is unknown.
