British protesters, politicians widen dragnet on suspect statues

London | Britain's new war on statues has moved to Oxford, where protesters have a long-controversial statue of 19th century imperialist Cecil Rhodes in their sights.

Several hundred protesters gathered outside the university's Oriel College early on Wednesday (AEST), demanding the removal of a statue of Rhodes on the college's front facade.
