The country's cultural institutions are beginning to emerge from the coronavirus shutdown, with the National Gallery of Australia set to reopen from next week.

After unprecedented closures because of the COVID-19 pandemic, smoke from bushfires in the Canberra region in January and a violent summer hailstorm, director Nick Mitzevich has revealed a staged reopening plan.
