Cyber security experts and academics are urging the government to release the source code of its COVIDsafe contact tracing app to stop fears about privacy breaches from slowing sign-ups, as researchers say "decompiled" code from the app shows it is safe to use.
The smartphone app was released on Sunday evening and had been downloaded 1 million times by the end of the night, while on Monday it was being downloaded 1700 times per minute.
