London | Europe's largest economy will start easing its coronavirus lockdown next week, but German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that social distancing would still be enforced and success against the pandemic remained fragile.
Smaller shops could begin reopening next week, echoing moves in Italy, Spain, Austria and now Belgium. Schools, however, will stay closed until at least May 4, a move more in line with Britain's expected announcement on Thursday (Friday AEST).
