ATC unveils Birdcage rival to keep punters in Sydney

The NSW racing industry has launched a new front in its assault on Victoria’s spring carnival stranglehold, this time taking aim at one of Flemington’s sacred sites: the Birdcage.
The Australian Turf Club's new enclosure at Randwick racecourse, called The Estate, is a 2,000 square metre site that contains two luxury marquees – The Conservatory and The Manor. It has been pitched squarely at the corporate crowd that flocks to Melbourne each year for the Spring Carnival.
