The latest update from the Australian Energy Market Operator on the prospects of the energy grid surviving a long, hot summer does not make pretty reading for those worried about large-scale power failures.

After a decade of inaction and bickering between the Commonwealth and the states over national energy policy, the chickens are finally coming home to roost for the 2019-2020 summer.
