"Bigger is better" is the strategy driving merger plans to create a $1.8 billion car dealership giant through AP Eagers' scrip buyout of rival Automotive Holdings Group, says chief executive Martin Ward.
Mr Ward, who runs AP Eagers, based in Brisbane, says the all-scrip offer for AHG, headquartered in Perth, will help both groups navigate tougher conditions in a sector where margins are under pressure and new vehicle sales are on the skids.
