Russia makes its presence felt again

Russian President Vladimir Putin reasserted his country's diplomatic influence in the region yesterday through the signing of a $1 billion arms deal with Indonesia that is also likely to bring closer economic ties.
The deal, to be financed by the Russian government, is a shift away from Indonesia's reliance on United States armaments and signals a cooling of diplomatic relations between the pair.
