It is astonishing how fast a herd of impala can move when they sense danger. Do they smell the leopard stalking them through the tall grass, or do they somehow catch a glimpse of it, despite the camouflage provided by its dappled fur?
We can’t be sure. All we know is that one impala sounds the alarm and suddenly the entire herd, dozens and dozens of these elegant antelope, are stampeding in the opposite direction.
