We’re scooting across the calm blue waters of the lower Whitsundays on the tender from the Sea Raes motor yacht on a pre-breakfast adventure to see a “secret” rock arch.

The arch, on little-visited Maher Island, has been carved by the elements over thousands of years from the island’s immensely impressive igneous rock face. High above it, an eastern osprey’s nest looks as if it has been placed there by a movie’s special effects crew.
