A bottle of rosé. This, apparently, is what all mums are dying to be given this Mother’s Day. At least that’s the impression I get from the constant stream of marketing emails I’ve received recently spruiking various pink wine options. Mums love a good rosé! That’s what the marketing people tell me.

Now I know there are indeed plenty of mothers (not to mention the rest of us) who love a good rosé. And there are some exquisite, rare and special pink wines out there in bottle-shop land if you do want to give your mum something fancy. I’ve written here before about my love for the stunning oh-so-pale and oh-so-savoury rosés of Clos Cibonne in Provence. A bottle – or a six-pack of bottles – from this estate would make a great gift, especially if your mum’s name is Caroline (the estate’s top wine is called Cuvee Prestige Caroline).
