“OK folks, get excited.” It’s lunchtime at Rick Shores, in Queensland’s Burleigh Heads, and a young and impossibly good-looking waiter has placed a plate of lobster and prawn har gow on our table with a flourish.
Well, thanks mate, appreciate the enthusiasm and all that, but actually we’re already excited. Not just because it’s great to be here, at this hugely popular beachfront restaurant on a sunny summer’s day, but also because everything else we’ve seen on a three-day blitz of the Gold Coast food scene is giving us lots to be thrilled about.
