I’m off for my annual Christmas holiday trip and desperate to pack light for perhaps the first time ever. I’ve got my capsule wardrobe down, and am now stuck: which shoes are best? I’ll be walking quite a lot, but want something stylish and comfortable. Please do not suggest chunky sneakers that more mature aged ladies the world over seem to wear. Send me your sleekest ideas only.

Dear Flat out,
It’s my opinion you need but three pairs of shoes while holidaying: a pair for walking and/or the gym (if you continue to use it during your downtime), a pair for casual daytime museum visits and a nicer pair for the evening. All should be flat. A holiday is also a break for one’s heels.
