Sometimes, I wish what people thought about me were true. Sometimes, I wish that, because I write about fashion, I could get to be a silly woman writing about a silly business. I never intended to spend my life as a fashion journalist, because honestly, what a stupid thing to be, right? When I got my first writing job, on a trade magazine for the clothing business, some friends were quite snotty. I could see they thought it was either a waste of a university degree or the natural level for a girl like me.
