Looking at Van Cleef & Arpels' latest range of timepieces for the first time, I’m conscious of their clarity of purpose – if not the clarity of the time they’re indicating.

Taking pride of place? Innovative movements celebrating romantic moments rather than the pursuit of precision, with whimsical decoration and lustrous jewels drawing the eye. The hour of day? Not quite so important.
