Everything you need to know on the fashion front this year
Major shifts are afoot in the industry. These are the trends – and the designers – that will make a difference to your wardrobe.
Making predictions about the fashion industry is probably as wise as wearing a mankini. Trends take us by surprise (condom shoes!), designers play musical chairs and just when we think we’ve nailed the perfect jean shape (barrel), the skinny silhouette comes back from the dead.
Much has changed about the fashion industry in the past 12 months. Virginie Viard is out at Chanel, with Matthieu Blazy in her place. Just last week, rumours heated up that Loewe designer Jonathan Anderson would become womenswear creative director at Dior. In 2025, Calvin Klein will debut a new designer (Veronica Leoni) – as will Celine (Michael Rider), Lanvin (Peter Copping), Tom Ford (Haider Ackermann), Givenchy (Sarah Burton), Dries van Noten (Julian Klausner) and Bottega Veneta (Louise Trotter).
