“Welcome to the gelatteria!” is how the Pin-Up Home people greeted those approaching their stand at the inaugural Matter and Shape design fair in Paris in March. Such a greeting was apt; the curvilinear sofas, chairs and ottomans in padded panels of pastel blue, pink, yellow and icy white leather were indeed mouth-wateringly delicious.
“The reason we wanted to go with such a different palette is because everything has been so beige and cream and tasteful these past few years,” says Felix Burrichter, founder and creative director of the New York-based Pin-Up magazine, which has just launched its own range of homewares and furniture. “Everybody’s been living in a sea of cream bouclé. It felt like time to shake things up a bit.”
