Kettle collectables: Breville puts Aboriginal art on your benchtop
A foray into Indigenous culture could have been disastrous for the kitchen appliance maker. Instead, this collection is a cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural triumph.
Designer and academic Alison Page could sense fear when she arrived at Breville headquarters in Sydney for her first meeting with the brand’s Aboriginal Culinary Journey creative team.
“Very quickly, they told me how afraid they were of not getting it right,” says the Wadi Wadi and Walbanga woman, founder of the National Aboriginal Design Agency.
