To repurpose a real estate maxim, the car of the future is all about data, data and data. Today’s smartest cars are already gathering and processing vast amounts of it every second via sensors, radar, lidar, cameras and central processing units and sending it at high speed to other parts of the car, to the occupants, to the cloud and, soon, to other cars and infrastructure.
They are also dragging information down from the cloud to provide feature updates, high-definition mapping and entertainment.
