When the F1 world champion was introduced to the car in Melbourne, it took a while to get it back from him.

Calls had to be made to head office to grant Lewis Hamilton his wish to drive the EQC

The first examples of the Mercedes-Benz EQC, the company’s first mainstream electric vehicle, will be delivered to European customers this month. And five-time F1 world champion (and Monaco GP favourite) Lewis Hamilton, is one of the first in line, having fallen in love with the model in Australia.

Mercedes-Benz airfreighted a pre-production example of the EQC to display at the Australian Grand Prix back in March. Hamilton was scheduled to be chauffeured in it to a promotional event but decided he wanted to take the wheel.
