Start your (hybrid) engines: the 2023 Formula 1 season blasts off this weekend. There are a record 23 F1 races this year and, although it’s the first season since 2011 without Aussie hero Daniel Ricciardo on the grid, plenty of eyes will be fixed on our new golden boy Oscar Piastri.
The 21-year-old Melburnian won Formula Renault Eurocup, Formula 3 then Formula 2 in subsequent years, and is considered the most exciting F1 debutant in years. He will line up for McLaren this weekend in Bahrain, then Saudi Arabia (March 19) before experiencing a true home Grand Prix when the championship comes to Melbourne on April 2.
