Whether it's Luminale in Frankfurt, Vivid Sydney, Deepavali in Jaipur or Glow in Eindhoven, many cities now boast light festivals. None of them, however, can claim to be led by a people with a culture going back more than 3000 generations using cutting-edge technology to depict ancient stories in the landscape that inspired them.
Nor can many light festivals claim the sheer scale of Parrtjima, pronounced "part-gee-ma", now in its fourth year in Australia's red centre, Alice Springs.
