Artwork that survived a ride on the roof of a Mini Moke could sell for $800,000.

Veteran Sydney art dealer Robin Gibson still remembers the eccentric way in which artist Brett Whiteley transported his new paintings to Gibson’s gallery.

“He used to strap things to the roof of his Mini Moke,” says Gibson, who held many Whiteley exhibitions in the 1970s and 1980s. “Brett was always coming in with things for sale.”
