Sarah Blasko had long dismissed ‘Twelfth Night’ – then she scored it
Composing a soundtrack for the Shakespearean comedy seemed an unlikely job for this most serious of singer-songwriters, but music proved to be the food of love.
Sarah Blasko had never read William Shakespeare’s comedy Twelfth Night before Bell Shakespeare asked her to create the soundtrack for the company’s new production.
“I’d always passed it off as this rompish comedy that was going to be too light for me,” says the Sydney-based singer-songwriter, whose own aesthetic has leant toward brooding intensity across six studio albums.
