New Ned Kelly book reveals why the bushranger was really a villain
The author of ‘Nabbing Ned Kelly’ explodes the myth of the iconic bushranger as a Robin Hood figure.
Ned Kelly’s famous last stand took place in Glenrowan at dawn on June 28, 1880.
A cordon of police had surrounded the hotel where he and his gang held more than 60 hostages. The police had exchanged sporadic gunfire with the gang throughout the night, unaware that Kelly, suffering multiple bullet wounds, had escaped into the bush.
