When people see Saturn through a telescope for the first time the reaction is always; “Wow!” says Niall MacNeill, an amateur astronomer living near Bathurst in the Central West of NSW.
Last year, his photo of the ringed planet, taken in a small observatory he has set up deep in the bush, was one of four shortlisted out of 6000 entrants in the UK’s Royal Museums Greenwich, Insight Investment Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition.
