Dance rolls rock as Australians’ music of choice

Live music made revenue of $4.83 billion in Australia in 2023-24, but domestic artists only netted $425 million as a preference for big international artists prevailed – although local electronic dance acts are countering the trend.

The overall music industry in Australia made revenue of $8.8 billion last financial year and added $2.82 billion to gross domestic product, according to the first major economic analysis of the sector.
