‘Conclave’ and ‘The Brutalist’ top BAFTAs amid scandal
London | Papal selection thriller Conclave and period drama The Brutalist were the big winners at the BAFTA Film Awards, winning four prizes each, while genre-bending musical Emilia Pérez proved it is still an awards contender despite a backlash that looked to have dented its chances.
Conclave, which had led nominations with 12 nods, won the night’s most coveted award, best film, as well as outstanding British film, best adapted screenplay and best editing at the 78th British Academy Film Awards.
