Auction houses target Asian art, farewell market stalwarts

Two of the busiest Australian art auction houses will significantly expand their reach into the Asian art market this year.
Bonhams is set to announce “further investment here in the Asia Pacific”, according to Sydney-based director Merryn Schriever. While Bonhams internationally turned over $US1.35 billion last year, the Australian branch sold just $10 million worth of art.
