Art lovers snapped up works valued at between $18 million and $20 million over four days at this year’s Sydney Contemporary art fair, injecting life into an otherwise listless market.

If those figures are confirmed mid-week when the final tally is in from 86 galleries, they’ll be down on sales totals of $21 million last year and $23 million the year before.
