A Howard Arkley painting of a stylised suburban living room stands out amid the offerings at an auction at Menzies in Melbourne, a sale which kicks off the major winter fine art sales.

The work, Deluxe Setting, is expected to fetch $1 million – ironically about the price many buyers can expect to pay for a real life house perhaps not too different from the one depicted by Arkley.
