Leading the crash investigations into MH17 and MH370 hasn't turned Sir Angus Houston permanently off flying but he would like to see real-time monitoring of black boxes and three pilots in plane cockpits.

Sir Angus welcomed changes introduced this year, which will more closely track international aircraft flying in Australian airspace with updates using satellite-based technology every 14 minutes, down from the 30 minutes previously used, but called for further changes to make flying safer.
