Australia has been a slow adopter of electric vehicles, but the sector is gathering speed.
Money talks. Electric vehicle sales are set to accelerate in Australia after a deal struck in the federal parliament in late November, which exempts low- and zero-emission cars from fringe benefits tax, potentially saving buyers around $30,000 over the life of a lease.
Australia has been regarded as a slow adopter on the world stage and EVs comprise about 3.4 per cent of total new vehicle sales – compared with the global average of 8.6 per cent. But things are now moving fast.
