Tradies lament dearth of hybrids with grunt in ‘grim’ EV market

Queensland tradie Henry Ladd would love to stop paying $220 to fill up his ute, but there’s no EV on the market with the towing capacity he needs.

Brisbane tradie Henry Ladd backs Labor’s new fuel efficiency standards and rubbishes the federal opposition’s claim it will send the price of utes and four-wheel drives through the roof.

Mr Ladd would happily pay more upfront to reduce both his carbon footprint and his fortnightly $220 diesel fuel bill, but says it’s too early for tradies to ride the electric vehicle wave.
