$20,000 a year in tolls: who pays the most?
The city’s road charges keep going up, typically by about 4 per cent annually, and will be a hot issue at next month’s NSW election. But how can the major parties ease the burden?
Mario Olivieri tells his truck drivers, who transport flowers across Sydney each day, to avoid toll roads if they can. It still costs him up to $20,000 a year.
“They’re a big whack to my business,” says Olivieri, who manages A&L Florist and has up to seven drivers on the road on any given day.
