MPs reject Qantas lobbying to open borders

Queensland government MPs in tourism-dependent areas have dug their heels in on border closures after targeted lobbying from Qantas for less stringent border restrictions just weeks before the state goes to the polls.

The state election will take place on October 31. Qantas does not yet have plans to step up its campaign beyond a letter sent to state and federal MPs earlier in the week or a petition launched on Thursday.
