Grounded tourism sector suggests path to recovery
About 8am, on a typical day before the pandemic, Grayme “Gally” Galbraith’s surf school participants would be paddling out into the sea southwest of Melbourne.
But his Torquay Surfing Academy is reliant on customers coming from everywhere – Melbourne, regional Victoria, interstate and overseas. So under the current lockdowns, Mr Galbraith, now 64, says turnover is down 68 per cent compared with last year.
