New Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb will face one of her first big tests in the role as the regulator considers Qantas’ proposed takeover of charter operator Alliance Aviation.

While the ACCC concluded there was no action necessary after three years of investigating Qantas’ initial 20 per cent stake in Alliance, the full all-scrip $614 million takeover revealed on Thursday will have to be re-examined.
