In his near nine-year tenure as chief executive of Qantas, Alan Joyce has had to encounter plenty of difficult situations. But he had never been hit in the face with a pie until Tuesday.
Mr Joyce was only a few minutes into a speech at a sold-out business breakfast in Perth on Tuesday when a man in a suit emerged from the back of the stage wielding a pie, which he rubbed in Mr Joyce's face.
