An executive from Victoria's Metro Trains rail network says he was paid $150,000 over several years by a cleaning company to help grow its business, contradicting earlier claims by the boss of regional rail network V/Line that the cash payments were made by a "gambling syndicate".
The startling admission from Peter Bollas, the head of operational support for the privately-run group's rail carriages, came in hearings held by Victoria's Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission (IBAC) investigating alleged corruption in Victoria's rail industry.
